Final Book Theme Decision: For my book, I will be creating tea time invitations, which will hold one to two photos and a time to meet for tea. The time given will correspond to a number of another photo placed inside of a tea box. This photo/photos will be the unedited versions with a hand written note themed after the idea of embracing natural beauty. The content is victorian era based with modern elements and ideas. I will decorate the envelope invitations and tea box with an elegant and natural aesthetic. Florals, ribbon, and possible wax seals are all designs that will go into creating the envelopes.I want the box and envelopes to have a very period feel to them. The concept as a whole is somewhat performative. Six people will be receiving envelopes. These envelopes will then require them to come receive new images from the tea box. I will use 4x6 prints with silk photographic paper to give a more nostalgic and vintage feel.

Two Possible Book Ideas: 1) My original idea was to do a vogue cover shoot. In this shoot, I would do multiple shoots with each model followed by several Polaroids to represent digitals of the model. My book would be a cork board where I can post all of the photos as if I was the management team for a magazine deciding which cover to choose from. 2) My second book design would be Tea Time: 21st Century Women. This would consist of a tea box with different flavor teas placed inside. Each tea flavor would have a number which would refer you to flip to a specific image within the journal.

Choice of Photographer: Robert Mapplethorpe- Robert Mapplethorpe is known for being a controversial photographer. In the 1980's his focus shifted to the black male and female bodies in New York City. I chose this photographer so that I could analyze his thoughts behind why he created these photos, as well as coming closer to understanding his intentions behind his seemingly racist photos.

Hard lighting is great for wanting to see every detail of a persons face, skin, eyes, hair, and so on. Soft light gives a smooth and clean finished result. When playing with other directions of light I found it fascinating how the mood can shift so quickly. From the front it looks simple and governmental almost. That light direction leaves nothing to mystery. The side gives us shape and symmetry. The mood changes to an almost crime scene idea. This is used for a lot of television shows so that the audience can get a taste...

D escribing Photographs: 1) A- Barrett defines description as the immediate evaluation of an object. This means that the viewer will take in as much information as possible just from his or hers first glance. From here descriptive information can be gathered such as the artists name, the photos whereabouts, date, or many other useful facts that will help form a persons judgement.     B- Barrett uses the example of photographer that focuses on shooting nudity to explain subject over subject matter. A subject matter is simply what one can view in a photograph. Example of this would include landscapes, buildings, or people. The subject is the purpose behind why the photograph was taken. For a landscape it could be to represent a national pride or a building could be advertising for the worlds largest new establishment. C- Form is the structure of a given photograph. This are the details that can be studied more precisely into how or why the artist did what he did...

I am currently in the process of costume designing a scene from a 1930's british comedy titled "Private Lives" by Noel Coward. My inspiration came from watching a variety of high society british films. This happens to be a production photo from the film adaption of Jane Austin's "Pride and Prejudice. It is entitled 'Making a Scene at Georgianna's Ball'. What grabbed me was the color difference between male and females as well as the placement of the hardwood floor. The linear design would have been very modern during the time period of 1797-1813 (Georgian period).

BRACKETING: Refinery Hotel  ISO: 400 EV:-1 Shutter Speed: 1/30 ISO:400 EV: 0 Shutter Speed: 1/60 ISO:400 EV: +1 Shutter speed: 1/120 Bracketing  is a general technique of taking several shots of the same subject using different camera settings. It can be useful in situations that make it difficult to obtain a satisfactory image with a single shot. To achieve the shots above I would change my shutter speed to get the wanted effect (1/30,1/60,1/120). Because these photos were shot on an iPhone, the aperture is at a set ratio therefore leaving the best option to adjust the shutter speeds. I also changed the exposure by one entire stop each time  ( -1 to 0 to +).
