Final Book Theme Decision: For my book, I will be creating tea time invitations, which will hold one to two photos and a time to meet for tea. The time given will correspond to a number of another photo placed inside of a tea box. This photo/photos will be the unedited versions with a hand written note themed after the idea of embracing natural beauty. The content is victorian era based with modern elements and ideas. I will decorate the envelope invitations and tea box with an elegant and natural aesthetic. Florals, ribbon, and possible wax seals are all designs that will go into creating the envelopes.I want the box and envelopes to have a very period feel to them. The concept as a whole is somewhat performative. Six people will be receiving envelopes. These envelopes will then require them to come receive new images from the tea box. I will use 4x6 prints with silk photographic paper to give a more nostalgic and vintage feel.
Two Possible Book Ideas: 1) My original idea was to do a vogue cover shoot. In this shoot, I would do multiple shoots with each model followed by several Polaroids to represent digitals of the model. My book would be a cork board where I can post all of the photos as if I was the management team for a magazine deciding which cover to choose from. 2) My second book design would be Tea Time: 21st Century Women. This would consist of a tea box with different flavor teas placed inside. Each tea flavor would have a number which would refer you to flip to a specific image within the journal.
Choice of Photographer: Robert Mapplethorpe- Robert Mapplethorpe is known for being a controversial photographer. In the 1980's his focus shifted to the black male and female bodies in New York City. I chose this photographer so that I could analyze his thoughts behind why he created these photos, as well as coming closer to understanding his intentions behind his seemingly racist photos.

Hard lighting is great for wanting to see every detail of a persons face, skin, eyes, hair, and so on. Soft light gives a smooth and clean finished result. When playing with other directions of light I found it fascinating how the mood can shift so quickly. From the front it looks simple and governmental almost. That light direction leaves nothing to mystery. The side gives us shape and symmetry. The mood changes to an almost crime scene idea.
